Free Flu Clinic for children age 6 months through 18 years.

November 9, 2018

RE:     Influenza Vaccination Clinic

The Sisseton Area POD and the South Dakota Department of Health are offering free seasonal influenza vaccine to all children 6 months through 18 years of age.

Sisseton is one of 30 POD sites organized by the state to quickly get medications to a large population in the event of a large infectious disease outbreak or other public health emergency, including bioterrorism and pandemic influenza.

Vaccinating children helps protect them from serious influenza illness and complications, and decreases the spread of influenza in the community as children are often the biggest spreaders of influenza to adults and other children.

A flu clinic for children will be held at the Westside Elementary School in Sisseton on November 15, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00PM. The state is supplying the vaccine free of charge and there will be no administration fee at this vaccination clinic.

Parent/guardian consent is required for children under the age of 18 and parents/guardians are encouraged to come to the clinic to be with their child when the vaccine is administered.  Prior to coming to the clinic, you can:

Based on a child’s history of receiving flu vaccine in the past several years, children under the age of 9 years may need 2 doses of vaccine this year separated by 4 weeks.
Please check with your doctor’s office to determine whether your child needs an additional dose.

If you have questions about the vaccine or the scheduled clinic, please contact:
