Mrs. Lagapa and Mrs. Salaum's second grade classes went to University of Minnesota, Morris for the play 'Lilly's Little Purple Plastic Purse' on Wednesday, April 15. The students were all here on time - well prepared for the bus leave time at 8:30am to travel with bus driver Mikey Ceroll. After the play, the students and staff went to McDonald's for lunch and to a playground to play in the beautiful sunshine that day. Thank you to the staff for organizing this learning day for our learners. We were given several compliments on our students and their positive behavior throughout the day. Thank you parents/guardians for your support for your child to attend and also to the parent that made sure both classrooms had an extra snack and drink for the day. The smiles of our students when they left were even brighter when they returned.

Thank YOU Modern Woodmen of America for asking what teachers need in their classrooms and how you can help them with this. Teachers were given an opportunity from Modern Woodmen to request healthy snacks needed for their classroom the days opposite of fresh fruit and vegetable snack days for the remaining weeks of school. Modern Woodmen team went shopping at local Teals today and dropped off each classroom snack bag for the teachers that submitted a request. Thank you in words alone does not express how much this means for our staff and students. The gift of snacks alone means so much, in addition to picking up the snacks and dropping them off for each teacher gifted them the snacks and time. THANK YOU! Snacks for the classroom, Clorox wipes, Kleenex, bandaids are items an elementary school uses often. We are grateful for your contribution Modern Woodmen!

Sisseton Elementary School fourth grade classes (Mrs. Abaquita and Ms. Sarsaba) attended education day at SWO Tribal Headquarters today. We were met by Joey Bird, had a Dakota Language learning session, attended Tribal Council - our very own Josiah Bagola sang a prayer song to begin our time together, students had an opportunity to ask questions, share their name and greet the council members, a tour was given, 'sweep the teepee' game, and pizza lunch. Thank you to all that made this day possible. A special thank you to Joey Bird for leading and teaching us and to Dr. Johnson for your dedication and support for our learners and families.
