Kindergarten students started their balance/bike learning this week in Physical Education. Westside received a grant this year through All Kids Bike® it is a national movement, led by the Strider Education Foundation, launched in 2018 with a simple mission: to give every child in America the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike in school. A shout out to Mr. Lotzer for well prepared procedures and expectations to have a safe environment for our learners to be ready for this opportunity. At Westside we all expect to be WAVE Learners: Well Prepared~Always Safe~Value Respect~Eager to Learn! This is and was evident especially in Physical Education (P.E.) this week. Thank you!

Our Dakota Dreams offers free online tutoring for all South Dakota K-12 students. Led by tutors pursuing education degrees at Northern State University and Black Hills State University, these sessions are valuable tools to help students succeed inside and outside of the classroom. New this year are two unique programs to take advantage of online tutoring. Students can now access tutors using Tutor Tracks, a new subject-specific program, or with on-demand homework help. With Tutor Tracks, students in grades 1-8 can dig deep into a specific subject to firm up their foundations in Reading, Grammar, or Math. For each session, tutors bring guided lesson plans, so all students have to do is show up and be ready to learn. Sessions are held for 30 minutes, twice a week, over a seven-week period. The next session is January 16-March 14, 2024. For more information or to register, visit https://ourdakotadreams.com/elementary-middle-school/online-tutoring/
